![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Team Roping Team roping is just what it means - It is the only rodeo event where partners compete together to win a shared prize amount. There is a Header and a Heeler:The Header may catch the steer either around the neck or by the horns. Although he has a little better control of the steer if it is caught by the horns. The Heeler must catch the steers two hind feet - a one foot catch results in a 5 sec. penalty. The object is for the header to ask for his steer, chase it down, rope and turn the steer left, while keeping the steers two hind feet hopping together. The heeler then comes in from behind the steer swinging his rope ‘in time’ with the steers hopping and ropes his hind feet. If the header "breaks the barrier" (which is actually a head start for the steer) a 10 sec. penalty is added to their time. Both horses must be facing each other with their ropes tight before the flag is dropped signaling the completion of the run. Fastest team wins!
